Panchakarma Department​

Panchakarma is a cleansing and rejuvenating procedure for the body, mind and consciousness. It is known for its beneficial effects on overall health, wellness.

The department of Panchakarma is a clinical department dealing with academic, research activity and hospital. This institute organises Post-Graduate Course in Panchkarma after graduation for Ayurvedic doctors.

Panchakarma is said to be the backbone of Ayurveda which deals with the special kind of Purificatory methods. Panchakarma is interlinked with every other speciality of Ayurveda so it is the strength area of hospital. Panchakarma stands for five purificatory therapies which are for intense level cleansing of the body. Deep level cleansing process through Panchakarma is required in some diseases which are chronic, recurrent and extensive in nature. It consists of five major procedures such as Vamana (Therapeutic emesis) which is mainly for aggravated Kapha Dosha. e.g. Asthma, hypothyroidism, obesity, cholesterol, diabetes, Skin diseases, allergic rhinitis. Virechana (Therapeutic purgation) is for aggravated Pitta dosha. e.g. eczema, psoriasis, jaundice, acidity, infertility,  etc.   Basti (Therapeutic enema) is for aggravated vata like neurological diseases, paralysis, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis etc. Nasya (Therapeutic nasal administration of medications) is useful in hair fall, greying of the hair, rhinitis, migraine, stress, loss of memory etc. Raktamokshana (Therapeutic bloodletting) is useful for vitiated blood and it’s disorder like eczema, ring worm, psoriasis etc. these procedures are meant for deep level purification to bring back equilibrium to deranged body state. Apart from this many para Panchakarma Procedures are performed in the department of Panchakarma. The patients are treated by experts of Panchakarma, specialized consultants, trained technicians and PG scholars of the department.  Regular functioning of IPD and OPD of this department give full opportunity to students to learn and develop proper skills with practical exposure.

Panchkarma is very effective in chronic diseases like Sandhivata (osteoarthritis), Amavata (rheumatic disorders), Vatavyadhi (neurological disorder), Kushtha (skin diseases), Pakshaghata (paralysis), Manasika Roga (mental disorder), life style disorder like diabetes mellitus, obesity, hypertension etc.
